Lamborghini and Mercedes Share Qualifying Honours in France

The Lamborghini Gallardo of Albert von Thurn and Taxis claimed the top spot in qualifying for Round 7 of the FIA GT3 European Championship at Paul Ricard. The Reiter Engineering car was 0.8 seconds ahead of the nearest rival, the nr1 Prospeed Competition Porsche of 2010 GT3 Vice Champion Paul van Splunteren, who enjoyed his best qualifying session of 2011. The nr44 Heico Motorsport Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG of Dominik Baumann will head up the second row for this afternoon's race 0.003s faster than the nr50 AF Corse Ferrari of Federico Leo.

In qualifying Round 8 it was the nr3 Graff Racing Mercedes-Benz SLS of Mike Parisy who took the top spot in a time of 2m06.768s, 0.189s ahead of Dino Lunardi in the nr15 Sainteloc Racing Audi R8 LMS and 0.324s ahead of Maxime Martin in the nr9 LMP Motorsport Aston Martin DBRS9.

In both qualifying session five manufacturers were represented in the post qualifying pres conference - Lamborghini, Porsche, Mercedes, Audi and Aston Martin. Round 7 is due to start this afternoon at 13:30 (CET)
